The first thing that happened when I departed Fairfax in October, 2012 was that I was asked to write a book. It’s a celebration of the last 10 years of the Sydney Swans, a subject dear to me.

I’ve written about the famous Bloods culture, the canny trading and recruiting and development of players, the triumphs and the tribulation.

I interviewed a cluster of players and coaches and administrators to do the job, and the book will be in shops this week from Penguin Australia.

It’s hardback, very handsome and full of cover photos. I recommend it. But then I’m biased!
